Up to now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn’t approved Stevia use as a food additive with an excuse that there is no proof or official scientific experiment to warranty about the side-effect of Stevia.

Stevioside (extract of stevia) has also been approved as a food additive (as a replacement for NutraSweet and saccharin)- a great natural alternative to sugar and chemical sweeteners. Stevia leaves can be dried and used to make herbal teas and liquid extract or Stevia powder can be used for confections as well
